Hojicha Overnight Oats
We recently went through quite a heatwave in the Seattle area. If you live in the Pacific Northwest you know all about it! On Monday temperatures reached 108 degrees where I live, which is unheard of in this part of the country. So my ritual of hot tea was quickly replaced day after day with delicious cold brew tea made in my fridge. Our cooking habits changed too. We ate lots of food that didn't require the heat of an oven - or any heat at all. For breakfast, I often made a smoothie and I also discovered a new favorite which will become part of my breakfast repertoire, heatwave or not: overnight oats. Unlike oatmeal which is normally cooked on the stovetop or in the microwave, these oats require no heat and are simply left to soak in liquid overnight in the fridge. A healthy & delicious breakfast that basically prepares itself while you sleep - does it get any better than that? I think not!

- are super easy to make
- don't dirty pots & pans
- can be the healthy foundation for endless flavor combinations
