How To Cold Brew Loose Leaf Tea

Is there anything more refreshing on a hot summer day than a chilled glass of iced tea? I certainly don't think so! And the cold brewing method is so easy and results in the most flavorful iced tea that I'm sure once you try it, you'll never want to make iced tea any other way.

I love using these iced tea pitchers from Tea Queens.  You simply fill the infuser basket with the loose leaf tea of your choice, add cold water, affix the lid, and pop in your fridge overnight or let steep for at least 6 hours. Once the tea is fully infused, simply remove the infuser basket, add the wet tea leaves to your compost bin, and pour yourself a refreshing cuppa iced tea! It will be the most flavorful iced tea you've ever had. You can even use this method with true teas like green, black, and oolong without any worry of the tea tasting bitter.

So, how much tea do you use exactly? Well, when I use the two quart Perfect Iced Tea Pitcher, I use 8 heaping teaspoonfuls of loose leaf tea. And when I use the smaller glass Lago Pitcher (shown in the photo), I used 4 heaping teaspoons of loose leaf tea. Of course, you are always welcome to add more tea, if you want a stronger tasting tea. A word to the wise, if you like the Lago Pitcher, pick one up soon because they are no longer being made by the manufacturer. Tea Queens bought up as many as they could, but once they are gone, they are truly gone!

I have some really great news too - right now when you spend $40, you'll receive FREE a 2 ounce bag of  Root Beer Tea and a 2 ounce bag of Breathe Wellness Tea!

These two teas are FABULOUS cold brewed! You won't believe how much the Root Beer tea really does taste like Root Beer! Add some carbonated water and you have a healthier Root Beer Soda! Then to that, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Hello Root Beer Float!! I kid you not! :)

The Breathe Tea is so comforting when you are dealing with anything like clogged sinuses, sore throat, head cold, or other respiratory congestion. It is super cooling iced and tastes refreshing and bright! My eldest teenager recently fell in love with this tea when he had a summer head cold with a sore throat. Even after he felt better he asked for more because he loved the taste of it. *Because of the powerful plants in this blend I would talk to your pediatrician if you wanted to use with younger children.

I hope this post inspires you to cold brew. I think it's super cool (no pun intended) that you can steep & serve in the same vessel without any hot water required! As always, if you do make a purchase at Tea Queens, I truly appreciate when you choose my name, "Tami Kowal",  from the list of consultants upon checkout. I will receive credit for your order and I will also enter you in my monthly book giveaway. Cheers!
